About Loomish

A house of hand-knotted rugs, in Lahore.

Loomish is a house of hand-knotted rugs based in Lahore, Pakistan. It holds its rugs in Lahore and sends them to homes, interior designers, hotels and retailers, in Pakistan and abroad.

The house works two ways at once. Bokhara, its own specialism, is held in depth: many pieces to a design and many to a size, so the same drawing can be supplied again. Every other family is held as single pieces, each the only one of itself.

What is online is a selection. The stock behind it is considerably larger, and a brief on WhatsApp reaches all of it.

What makes the pieces different

Hand-knotted throughoutEvery piece is knotted by hand, with no glue and no backing cloth. The back of each rug shows its whole drawing, knot by knot.
Held in depthBokhara can be supplied again in the same design and size, for a second room, a whole house or a hotel.
Priced in the openEvery price is the piece’s size multiplied by its family’s published rate, the same for everyone who reads it.
Chosen by eyeEach piece is chosen on the balance of its drawing, the quality of its wool and the density of its pile, none of which appear on a specification sheet.
Specified properlyEvery piece carries a printable sheet: dimensions in feet and centimetres, weight, material, construction and price.
The only one of itselfKazak, Ziegler, Agra, Khotan, Mamluk, Khurjin, Suzani and Damask are held as single pieces. Nobody else has the same rug.
